How I Managed to Lose Weight While Going Through Menopause and Tackling Diabetes
Menopause is a critical health issue for women. Why?
Because it’s the time they are more vulnerable to developing type 2 diabetes.
They lose more years of life in comparison to men going through diabetes. Moreover, the death rate among menopausal women has increased immensely since the 1970s.
This is a story of a woman going through menopause while dealing with diabetes.
Diabetes affects a woman’s health in many ways, including how the body uses food for energy, leading to weight gain or high blood sugar levels.
High blood sugar can lead to serious diabetes complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease.
Unfortunately, I had been battling diabetes while being under the menopause cycle, and believe me, nothing was more intimidating than that.
Sorry to break it to you, but the facts need to be out in the open for others to follow and save them from the anguish I had to go through.
My name is Maria, and I’m a mother of two beautiful children. Quite recently, I’ve also faced menopause, and on top of that, I’ve developed diabetes along the way.
But, I managed to control my sugar levels while maintaining my weight naturally without any medication whatsoever.
Now I share my story with women like me who are struggling with menopause and who might be suffering from diabetes.
I share how I did this, so no one has to go through the same thing I did.
A little background…
I started experiencing something unusual when I was around 55.
I didn’t think much of it at first because it is usually a norm for women in their 40s. But it completely changed me.
I started experiencing irregular periods, hot flashes, chills, mood swings, and weight gain more than ever.
But one day…
It was the middle of summer, and I was sweating bullets. My face was flushed, my heart was racing, and I was drenched in sweat.
I had no idea what was happening to me.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks – menopause!
I had heard that it could be pretty rough, but I never imagined it would be like this.
Added to the mix was my type 2 diabetes which made everything just suo much harder.
I tried to read up on all the information I could find about menopause and diabetes, but it all seemed so overwhelming.
There were so many conflicting opinions and stories out there.
Some people said their symptoms got better once they went through menopause, while others said their symptoms only got worse.
I decided to go see my doctor and talk to her about it.
She gave me some good advice and reassured me that everything would be okay.
She told me about some of the treatments available for menopause and diabetes, and she also gave me some tips on managing my symptoms.
I always thought of myself as a bit overweight. But it wasn’t until I hit my late fifties that I realized just how much weight I’d put on over the years.
It all started with little things – a few too many nights out with friends, eating takeout because I was too tired to cook, not getting enough exercise…
And before I knew it, the pounds had piled on.
The few pounds went on to become 230 lbs.
The distress I was in increased tenfold due to the excessive weight gain.
I cried myself to sleep every night.
Everything changed from that day onward.
I was always tired.
I was sick of the medicine the doctor had prescribed to me.
I couldn’t even enjoy a sweet cup of tea without my blood glucose spiking up.
Fast forward a few months, I couldn’t walk properly or even work because the weight gain made me weak and tired.
I knew I had to do something.
I couldn’t let this condition take over me.
I was not ready to give in to diabetes, so I started looking for ways to help manage it.
One day, I finally stumbled upon a solution that seemed nothing but a door to happiness and peace.
A solution that helped me avoid medication.
A solution that made menopause bearable.
And a solution that ultimately helped me manage diabetes.
That solution was MyDiabetes.
I was lucky my friend introduced me to this incredible app.
All I had to do was take a quiz and select the type of my diabetes, my eating preferences, any eating allergies I have, any medical issues I am suffering from, the number of meals I eat every day, and so on.
The nutritionists they had onboard made a customized diet plan for me.
The savory foods presented on the menu made me relish my feast as I enjoyed my way through eating.
The exercises from the MyDiabetes app were easy and without any equipment to keep me fit.
The app’s built-in activity log and progress tracker helped manage my sugar levels.
And the best part, I saw incredible results within months!
It was as if I regained my youth.
Since the meal plan is high in whole-foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, high-quality protein and dairy products, it also helped me with my menopause symptoms.
Let me tell you, I’ve seen excellent results with my diabetes control. I also lost 23lb.
Knowing the struggle, I suggested MyDiabetes to more than a dozen people, and they all experienced incredible health results.
So, if you struggle with any weight-related issue, I suggest trying out this app.
