Managing Diabetes Over 60 – How I Lost 37Lbs While Restoring My Eyesight

“Watch your carbs, avoid processed food, and come back in 6 months.”

That’s what my doctor said after breaking the news that I was officially diagnosed with diabetes.

Getting diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 62 was a whole new thing to wrap my head around, and on top of that, I had no further explanation on how to manage it, no guidance whatsoever.

How do I fix my diet? What can I eat at the end of the day?

I had no actual answers.

That’s why after being diagnosed, I didn’t really make significant changes in my life.

I didn’t know what changes were necessary to begin with.

I weighed 215 pounds, and trust me, I didn’t like it. My entire life, I felt quite insecure about that.

However, I had no guidance and frankly, I was quite mad.

I felt like I was all alone with my condition, and no one was willing to lend a helping hand.

So, I didn’t hold myself accountable for any of this and continued to let myself go.

I ate what I wanted and when I wanted.

Occasionally, I tried to eat healthier foods and incorporate more veggies and whole grains into my diet, convincing myself that I could be doing a lot worse.

However, more frequently, I treated myself to junk food and ice cream and gave into my other cravings.

Portion control was also out of the question.

I always cook for myself and my husband, and we both like to feel full after dinner. So I didn’t hold myself back when it came to preparing meal portions for both of us.

It took just a few months for the consequences to kick in.

One day, my husband and I were watching a movie, and I realized that I couldn’t read the subtitles clearly. They were blurry to me.

For context, I do wear glasses when watching TV or reading, but my vision had always been quite good for my age, so I never really complained.

That’s why it seemed so unusual, and quite frankly, I got a bit worried.

But I thought I must be tired and just needed to rest my eyes after a long day.

However, the next day, I was searching for my notebook in the pile of magazines.

I froze for a minute.

I wasn’t able to read the title of one of the magazines. It was just a big blur.

Panic kicked in. I got terrified, I didn’t understand what was happening.

I told my husband about what had just happened, and he immediately insisted that we go to the hospital.

I have to admit. Although I was scared about my vision, I was a bit embarrassed to go to the doctor.

I didn’t follow any of the previous doctor’s recommendations, I had no idea what he was going to say about that.

To no surprise, the cause of my blurred vision was none other than my diabetes, which was apparently worsening.

My blood sugar was a mess, and If I continued like this, I could also wait for other symptoms to kick in at any time.

I had also gained a lot of weight in the past months. At that point, I weighed 235lbs.

I never imagined I could reach this point in my life…

That was my wake-up call. I knew I couldn’t take this lightly. My physical and mental health was in serious danger.

This time, I instantly asked my doctor for help. I knew I couldn’t handle this myself.

My doctor emphasized that the most important thing for me is to develop a healthy relationship with food.

He recommended the Klinio app, which had already helped many of his patients develop healthy habits instead of taking up and failing trendy diets.

Well, I definitely knew about failing. I must have tried dozens of different diets myself until I ended up in this position in the first place.

I had insecurities about my body for as long as I could remember.

Keto, intermittent fasting, low-carb, Atkins diet… you name it.

Honestly, I was exhausted.

They all just seemed so general, and I always felt quite stressed while trying to keep up with them and eating foods I didn’t even like.

If they worked, the effects would last no more than a month. Then I’d see those pounds return faster than I’d put them on in the first place.

With that said, I was skeptical, to say the least, that this Klinio program would work.

But at the same time, I knew I needed to try something if I wanted to recover my health.

The Klinio program was not at all what I had expected.

I finally got meals that are personalized to my taste and needs.

I don’t have to eat plain and tasteless food. There are thousands of delicious recipes I didn’t even know I could enjoy with my condition.

Plus, the calories are counted for me, and I can even swap out ingredients if I don’t like them.

I thought it would be difficult because I wouldn’t be able to satisfy my cravings.

Surprisingly, I got tons of delicious sweet treat recipes I can make for myself and look forward to every day.

I would lie if I said I didn’t crave my usual snacks.

But drinking more water definitely helped me regulate my urges, and Klinio isn’t about restrictions.

It’s all about finding balance in a healthy meal plan.

However, what topped everything was the changes I noticed after starting using Klinio.

I’ve already lost 37lbs!

I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of myself, I feel so great without those extra pounds.

And I know it’s just the beginning.

Besides me losing weight and regaining my confidence, my biggest fear, my blurred vision, is no longer a problem I have to deal with.

It’s strange for me to think that I could have avoided all these complications if only I had discovered Klinio earlier.

I never knew that I could be fully content with healthy eating habits. But look at me now!

Since I always make dinner for me and my husband, I was also quite worried about aligning these recipes to his needs.

But apparently, there was nothing to worry about. I think he enjoys the recipes even more than I do!

I have to thank Klinio for these amazing changes in my life.

I am again confident with my body, feeling healthy, and, most importantly, managing my diabetes.

My life is no longer controlled by diabetes.

The reason why I’m sharing this story is to prevent people from making the same mistakes that I did.

I want people to be aware of diabetes and the dangers it may bring to your health.

So, if you have diabetes and maybe lack guidance or are just tired of this condition and want to give up, think again.
