I loved going out.
Catching up with my friends at a nice restaurant and eating a delicious meal seemed like a perfect way to spend my evenings.
However, my meal choices were not always the healthiest.
I wanted to enjoy my time out, so I definitely didn’t restrict myself to a salad.
I had the habit of ordering the same meals as my friends. So, most often, my evenings involved a creamy lasagna or a juicy burger with a glass of wine or a cocktail on the side.
I couldn’t avoid the consequences for long…
I’m Olive, and this is my story of how I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at 44 years old.
I was well aware that I had gained some weight over the years.
It was, however, a natural aspect of growing older for me.
Sure, losing a few pounds would have been great, but it wasn’t something I was concerned about.
My husband was always supportive and affectionate, and he often complimented my appearance.
So, shedding weight wasn’t something I was focused on. That’s why I didn’t question my dinner choices that much.
My husband and I were also fans of take-out and processed foods. When I didn’t feel like cooking, it was the ideal solution.
Little by little, it became a habit that was hard to shake. When it came to dinner preparation, my husband and I had become a bit lazy.
We had endless options of quick and tasty take-out meals, so why bother?
By leading a lifestyle like this, I reached 227lbs.
My clothes started to feel tight. I felt even more tired than I usually was by the end of the day. My sleep quality was awful.
During the night, I began to experience severe leg cramps. The pain woke me numerous times throughout the night, and it was hard to bear. The mornings were horrible. It felt like I’d barely slept.
I realized I couldn’t keep dragging this out any longer.
My health was failing, and I knew something wasn’t right.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I went to the doctor, but it wasn’t type 2 diabetes.
I just sat there in disbelief after hearing the news. I needed some time to process the information.
My blood sugar level had risen to 6.5 A1C, and I was prescribed medication. I had never expected that my lifestyle would lead me to this point.
I needed to figure out a way to get back on track, and I realized I couldn’t do it by myself.
I did what I’m sure most of us do after getting diagnosed with diabetes – searched the internet for answers.
However, I was overwhelmed by the information.
I read various articles and joined online groups and forums to get as much information as possible.
The more I searched the net, the more confused I became about the choices I should make.
I tried to put together a meal plan for myself using what I’ve learned, but it didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.
I was so desperate to break my old habits and achieve quick results that I gave up everything I enjoyed and was used to.
I stopped going out with my friends and completely stopped eating take-out and processed meals.
In theory, it sounded great, but I just couldn’t keep up with it. It was too hard to break these habits all at once.
After a month of eating like this, I caved in and gave in to my cravings, ordering a big take-out and overeating.
I felt miserable and honestly didn’t know what to do. I knew I couldn’t live with all of these restrictions.
I went back to online groups to ask whether anyone else went through the same thing as me and had solutions.
After a few hours, a group member recommended the Klinio app, which had helped him get back on his feet and control his blood sugar.
I had nothing to lose, so I rushed to download it.
At first glance, I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the meal plan that much because it looked similar to the diets I used to see before. Full of green and healthy dishes, which I wouldn’t be able to keep up with.
However, I was greatly mistaken.
After just one week of following Klinio, I realized this was going to be different.
The meal plan got better and better every day, and I figured out I could change anything I didn’t particularly like in my daily meal plan.
I loved the meal portion sizes and simple yet delicious recipe ideas. I was able to adapt my meal plan to the ingredients I had on hand, making it very simple to follow.
The adaptability of the plan even made my husband and I start enjoying cooking together and planning for the week.
We decided that this would be our quality time, and we have grown to love spending time like this.
The app also helps me track my daily progress and constantly monitor my blood sugar and water intake!
The best part – I’m able to satisfy all of my cravings.
Klinio encourages me to find balance in my everyday routine rather than solely focusing on restrictions and elimination.
This app has given me all the education I need.
Since I’ve read Klinio’s “Eating Out” ebook, I can go out with my friends guilt-free now because I know exactly what dishes and drinks to order.
My blood sugar is mainly stable at around 5.9 A1C, and I’ve already shed 34 pounds.
I’m excited about the future because I feel like I’ve unlocked a new chapter in my life.
I never expected an app to be the answer to my troubles.
It’s disappointing to think that I needed a diagnosis like this to show me the value of living a healthy lifestyle. However, I consider myself lucky to have changed my habits later than never.
I’m not sure if I could have done it without Klinio. In fact, I’m sure I couldn’t have.
This program has ticked all the boxes for me.
I would like everyone struggling with their condition to find Klinio sooner rather than later.
I know very well what it means to manage your diabetes without guidance.
You don’t have to do it the hard way. You can avoid that by choosing the right tools.
